This chapter provides general information about using the online help for protel.

Preface

Our protel hotel management systems keep evolving with the growing needs of our clients. Despite their complexity, however, they remain highly flexible and adaptable at the core. In fact, our software solutions are as unique and individual as the requirements of the companies that use them. This makes it extremely difficult to provide a manual that is perfectly “tailored” to the needs of each and every hotel. While we took great care to explain all features of the software in detail, the individual steps and workflows may vary across hotels depending on their company structure and specific configuration of the software. It should therefore be noted that both the online help and this manual are not intended as a replacement for comprehensive on-site user training.

Navigation

To navigate the online help, use the  start page, the table of contents or the index.

Start page: The start page for the online help provides a general overview of the help topics that may be of interest to the various users of protel. Click a topic in the list to access the relevant section of the online help.

Contents: Click a folder or a page in the table of contents to open the relevant help topic in your browser.

Index: Click the Index tab in the left pane of the online help window to access the subject index. Double-click a keyword to go to the linked help topic. You can also enter a search string to search for in the subject index.

Search

The protel online help includes a powerful full-text search function. To use this, click the Search tab in the left pane of the online help window and then enter the terms you want to find. Press the <Enter> key or click the [List Topics] button to start the search. The results list that appears shows all topics containing the search string. Truly clever: If you open the topic from the results list, the search string is even highlighted in blue within the topic.

Feedback

Your feedback will be more than welcome. Please click the Feedback button at the top of the window if you have any questions about a topic in the online help, want to send us your ideas or suggested improvements, or need to notify us of errors.

This will automatically launch the e-mail client installed on your computer and create an e-mail message addressed to our editorial team. The address, subject line, and reference ID will all be entered automatically. You simply need to enter your question or comments and click the Send button.
